MEDIA ALERT

SPIRIT WEEK KICKS OFF HOMECOMING FESTIVITIES AT TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE
DEAF

EXCITEMENT BUILDS AS PRE-GAME EVENTS FILL THE WEEK LEADING TO HEATED
RIVALRY

Austin, Texas – September 29, 2008 The Texas School for the Deaf
(TSD) gets in the homecoming spirit today as Spirit Week kicks off. A
theme is selected for each day of Spirit Week. Freshmen, sophomores,
juniors and seniors dress up accordingly in spirited regalia.
Together, each class competes and is judged for the most spirit each
day. Then, during Friday’s pep rally, the class with the most wins
from Spirit Week takes ownership of the coveted Spirit Award to call
their own until it must be passed on next year. The winning class also
receives a cash prize for their class activity fund.

Texas School for the Deaf, located at 1102 South Congress Avenue,
hosts rival, Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD), on Saturday, October
4. With former TSD football coach Andrew Bonheyo now leading the MSD
Orioles, there is much to anticipate as kick-off Saturday evening at
5:30 pm nears. The 2008 TSD Homecoming court will be crowned during
half time. TSD Homecomings are more than just about an exciting
football game. Rooted in long-standing tradition, each year, students,
families, friends and alumni converge upon TSD to celebrate together
for a full day of pre-game activities and reconnect with friends,
teachers and classmates. TSD welcomes the public to join us.
