ADARA 2009 Pre-Conference Agenda Announced
Three concurrent sessions will make-up the ADARA 2009 Pre-Conference
in San Antonio on April 15, 2009 from 8:00am – 5:00pm.
For the Rehabilitation/At-Risk/Low Functioning Track, we are happy to
have to John Evans from the State of Washington and Randi Turner from
the State of Texas presenting: “Disability Rights and Advocacy
Strategies.”
For the Independent Living/Transition Track, “Technology Update:
Devices and Services,” a presentation from Rose Minette, Teri Wathen
and Esther Kelly. These three professionals have been instrumental in
creating the Hearing Loss Resource Specialist program which thrives in
Texas. All levels of hearing loss are served through this statewide
program.
For the Mental Health/Substance Abuse Track, we are pleased to
announce Stephen Hardy-Braz will present, “Understanding New
Psychological Assessments with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals:
Making Sense of the SB-5, WPPSI-II, WISC-IV, WAIS-III, WNV, DAS-ii and
KABC-II.”
ADARA 2009 Opening Gala Announced
The ADARA 2009 Conference will open Wednesday night after conclusion
of the Pre-Conference. The 2-hour Wine/Beer/Cheese/Salsa/Chips
reception will be held outside in a covered/protected pavilion
beginning at 6:00pm. Off to each side in separate meeting rooms will
be two concurrent events: Deaf Author Book Signing and ADARA 2009
Poster Session. Afterwards participants will be able to enjoy a night
on the San Antonio RiverWalk which is literally just steps from the
Conference Hotel, the Plaza San Antonio; a Marriott property.
