Achieving Independence Through Employment
Sponsored by the DARS-Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
This session will explore what it means to be independent and how
students can start the process to becoming a successful independent
adult. Information about connecting with Vocational Rehabilitation to
obtain transition services will also be provided to enable students to
make the change from high school to the real world. Students and
parents welcome.
About the Presenter: John Evans has been with the State of Washington
for more than 24 years serving in a variety of positions such as a
Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Business Relations Specialist and
Employer Relations Program Administrator; his current position. Mr.
Evans also worked as a Reasonable Accommodation Specialist with the
State Department of Personnel where he served as a statewide
consultant and employee development trainer to employer
representatives.
