National Vocabulary Competition project – May 2009

Welcome to the Web site of the first-ever National Vocabulary Contest
for deaf and hard of hearing children.The competition will take place
May 15-17, 2009 on the beautiful campus of Gallaudet University – the
world’s only university for deaf and hard of hearing students –
where the needs of students with all varieties of hearing loss and
communication modes are met, embraced, and celebrated.

, the goal of the competition is to encourage deaf and hard of
hearing students to improve their spelling, increase vocabulary, and
develop correct grammar usage. The National Vocabulary Contest also
aims to provide a chance for deaf and hard of hearing students of all
communication modes to interact and compete in a way that is
accessible to all.

winner will receive $5,000 and the third place winner will receive
$2,500.
