THERE IS HOPE! YOU ARE WORTHY!

YOU ARE SPECIAL!

Recently, I have experienced severe depression. One important thing I
learned to having a healthy, peaceful life is knowledge about
depression. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain. “There
are chemicals in our brain (neurotransmitters) that help our brain
cells communicate with other cells. When there is an imbalance in
these chemicals, our moods can be affected. Examples of
neurotransmitters include norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine.”
(United Behavioral Health working Solutions Division)

Depression can affect anyone. Although I am not a doctor nor am I a
counselor or therapist, I can relate to the deep and dark level of
depression. From this happening in my life, I wanted to start a
support group, particularly for those who are deaf, who want to gather
together and talk about our feelings. This support group would be to
listen, encourage, and learn from each other how to survive this
illness. Everything expressed in this support group will remain
private and will stay IN the group. We need to trust others in the
group so we will continue to feel comfortable expressing our feelings.

A few facts:

· Depression is an illness

· Medication AND Professional Counseling CAN help someone with this
illness

· Support Groups are for those who desire to share their feelings
about this illness and connect with others who can understand how each
person feels

· Many resources are available

· Learning about this illness WILL help understanding yourselves

In the future, we will be inviting professionals to come and speak
with our group.

If you have any questions, please email me at:
[email protected]

This support group will always be anonymous and confidential. You
must agree to this prior to attending.

The reason I have chosen not to list my name in this advertisement is
an effort for myself to also remain confidential. When you email me
with questions, I will be happy to reveal who I am. Only those who are
sincerely interested may contact: [email protected]. I will
let you know about the location and time after you contact me. Thank
you for understanding.
