Alzheimer’s 101: A Presentation for D/HH – Houston

Alzheimer’s 101: What you need to know to keep in focus.…a free
presentation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing People family members and
caregivers.

Memory loss that disrupts daily life is not a normal part of aging.
But when is it normal memory loss and when is it Alzheimer’s?

This program will enhance each individual’s knowledge concerning the
cognitive changes associated with aging, and how they differ from the
changes caused by Alzheimer’s and Dementia. This program will also
cover the consequences of dementia, the impact of diagnosis and
treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. After this program, the participants
will be able to differentiate between normal age-related cognitive
changes and Alzheimer’s disease and dementia related changes,
differentiate between Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, identify the
warning signs of Alzheimer’s disease and describe the process of
diagnosis and treatment.

Katie Olson is the speaker and is the Community Education and
Outreach Coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston and
Southeast Texas Chapter.

Audience – This free presentation is designed for deaf and hard of
hearing individuals, family members and their caregivers.

Accommodations – Sign Language Interpreters and C.A.R.T. will be
provided. Other accommodations should be requested by February 03,
