A former dorm supervisor at the Texas School for the Deaf pleaded
guilty Monday to having an improper relationship with a student and
was sentenced to six years in prison, said Travis County Assistant
District Attorney Allison Wetzel.
Shane Flournoy, 33, told his minister last year that he had sexually
abused a minor and wanted to turn himself in, launching a police
investigation, according to a police affidavit.
Flournoy, who began working at the school in May 2007, had gone on
shopping trips with a 15-year-old male student and allowed the teen to
watch pornography on his computer, Flournoy and the student told
police, according to the affidavit.
After his arrest, Flournoy was fired by the Texas School for Deaf.
Wetzel said that Flournoy will now be transported to Houston where he
faces aggravated sexual assault charges. She said the conduct alleged
in indictments in Houston against two victims happened before the
relationship with the School for the Deaf student.
