This year, 2009, is the 200th anniversary of German composer Felix
Mendelssohn’s birth. Mendelssohn, one of the Romantic period’s
most prolific composers, was born to a notable Jewish family which
later converted to Christianity. Sunday morning at 11:00, the Chancel
Choir and The Orchestra at Arborlawn present his setting of Psalm 95,
entitled “Come, Let Us Sing.” This is a magnificent choral work of
praise to our living God also featuring soloists Frankye Davis, Pam
Stoker, Kay Phillips, and Alan Davis.
In addition, the choir will sing three anthems composed by Mack
Wilberg, presently the conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The
congregation joins the choir and orchestra in singing “When Morning
Gilds the Skies” and “O God, Our Help in Ages Past” arranged by
Dallas composer, Sterling Procter. Rev. Ben Disney will be preaching.
Invite your friends and neighbors to join us Sunday at Arborlawn at
11:00! Sign language interpreting will be provided.
The church address is: 5001 Briarhaven Road, Fort Worth, TX 76109.
Telephone is 817-731-0701.
