DARS/ DHHS (Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services) wants to remind you of our license plate. Ordering information is on the TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) web-site. There is an annual cost of $30.00 for the plate, of which $22.00 goes to DHHS to help fund special services in one of programs. Please use the following URL to access the application form. After mailing in your completed application and the applicable fee, you will be notified by TxDOT that your license plate is ready and where you can pick it up. You will need to take in your current plates and exchange them for your new “I Love Texas” plates.
The plate was designed by graphic artist, Kari Graves, with input/feedback from persons who are deaf/hard of hearing, interpreters and other service providers alike from across the state. Mrs. Graves, who is deaf, graduated from Texas State Technical Institute (now Texas State Technical College) in Waco. She and her husband, Charles, reside in New Braunfels. Kari is an Art Director with PCI Educational Publishing in San Antonio.
