Douglas Ridloff was born and raised in Queens, New York. After earning a
M.A. in Deaf Education, Douglas went out and saw the world-Central America,
Europe, and Asia. Douglas saw that there is a universal sense of humor
communicated through body language and gesture. Thus emerged a new
collection of “blue” jokes and stories that led to winning 1st place in ASL
LIVE! and 3rd place in Deaf Idol. He has defined himself as an ASL artist,
doing stand-up comedy, ASL poetry and storytelling. Douglas also is
exploring the cinematic possibility of ASL while teaching ASL and Media at
“47” – The American Sign Language and English Secondary School. He lives in
New York City with his wife, Lauren.
