Seeking qualified candidates to direct the 2011 Miss Deaf Texas program
Austin – Texas Association of the Deaf (TAD) President Paul Rutowski
announces that the TAD board is seeking a qualified candidate to take over
the directorship of Miss Deaf Texas program (MDTP). After a lapse of three
years, TAD board voted to revive the program, which was established in 1976
when Ms. Kathy Weldon became the first winner in Fort Worth. Interestingly,
Ms. Weldon, the current dean of students at SWCID in Big Spring, is the
co-chair of the 2011 TAD conference, which is slated for June 16 to 18,
2011.
All interested candidates need to contact President Rutowski via his TAD
email at [email protected] before the deadline on September 20. The MDT
position is a volunteer one that requires organizational skills, effective
and consistent communication skills and sense of responsibility and
commitment. After September 20, a board liaison and her chosen ad hoc MDT
committee will interview the chosen candidates. Final decision and
announcement will be made before the end of September. All interested
individuals are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
More information about the MDT guidelines and other plans will be announced
in the fall issue of The Deaf Texans. Barring further problems, TAD
intends on sending the 2011-2013 Miss Deaf Texan to the 51st biennial NAD
conference in Kentucky in July 2012. Meanwhile, questions and concerns may
be forwarded to President Rutowski at the given email address within this
missive.
