Closed captioning available on cablecasts, webcasts of Fort Worth City
Council, Pre-Council meetings

Closed captioning is now available on cablecasts and webcasts of Fort
Worth City Council and Pre-Council meetings, another step toward ensuring
equal access to municipal communications.

Here’s how it works:

Webcast At FortWorthGov.Granicus.org viewers can see live and recorded
webcasts of Council meetings. A small button with the closed-captioning logo
appears in the bottom left corner of the window. When this button is
clicked, a text box opens below the video to display captioning. This text
box does not obstruct the video. Please note that closed captioning is
available on webcasts and recordings of Council meetings beginning September
14, 2010.

Cablecast Closed captioning is typically displayed at the bottom of the TV
screen and becomes visible when the user activates the closed-captioning
decoder, available in all TV sets manufactured after 1993. For TVs
manufactured before 1993, a stand-alone decoder can be purchased. Please
note that Council and Pre-Council meetings are cablecast live and
are periodically replayed on the City Municipal Channel, which is available
in certain packages offered by these providers: AT&T (Uverse), Charter, One
Source and Verizon.

In 2009, the Fort Worth Human Relations Commission (HRC) recommended that
the city website be made accessible to the deaf and hard of hearing
community by including closed captioning for the website videos and by
providing American Sign Language (ASL) services online. On Feb. 3, 2009, the
City Council adopted a resolution accepting the HRC recommendation.
