Artisan Center Theater announces its production of Harper Lee’s
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD
dramatized by Christopher Sergel

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD will run October 1 – October 30, 2010 on Mondays,
Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and twice on Saturdays.
Hurst, Texas, September 20, 2010 – Artisan Center Theater proudly presents
Harper Lee’s TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD at its 150 seat theater-in-the-round. The
theater is located in the old historic Belaire Plaza at 420 E. Pipeline
Road. The daytime box office is located at 418 E. Pipeline Road. The show
runs Friday October 1 through Saturday October 30, 2010. Performances are at
7:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with 3pm matinees
on Saturdays 10/9, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30/2010. Reserved seating tickets are
$16.00 for adults, $14.00 for students and seniors, and $9.00 for children
12 and under. Monday through Thursday tickets are $12.00. The box office

TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD will be interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired
by TCC Practicum students Kathleen Drerup and Wendy Powell on Tuesday
October 5, 2010.
About TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD:
It is the summer of 1935 and Scout, a young girl in a quiet southern town,
is experiencing the dramatic events that will affect the rest of her life.
In the rural American south during the depths of the Depression, she and her
brother watch as their father takes a stand against intolerance. Based on
one of the most touching and inspirational stories ever written.
In this production the whole Leyva family takes center stage. Jason Leyva
plays Atticus; his two kids, Sadie and Zach, play Scout and Jem; his wife,
Jenn, plays Miss Maudie.
About the Director:
Dennis Canright has not only directed at Artisan but has also appeared in
productions there. Those productions include SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN as Uncle
Stanley, THE ARK as Noah, THE MUSIC MAN as Harold Hill, I LOVE A PIANO, and
THE FORGOTTEN CAROLS as Uncle John. He directed CINDERLLA, OKLAHOMA, and the
highly praised and successful WEST SIDE STORY.
People in the Cast:
Jason Leyva (Atticus Finch) is originally from Oklahoma. He has been an
Entertainment Manager for Six Flags and the Director of Entertainment at the
Double Resort in Michigan. Currently he is the Technical Director at
Artisan. He has preformed in/directed and designed over 100 stage shows from
Washington D.C. to Dallas, Texas. His stage credits include the title role
in HAMLET, George in WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRIGINA WOOLF, Treat in ORPHANS,
Austin in TRUE WEST, George in OF MICE AND MEN, as well as the independent
films DIRTY RED, THE ECSTASY OF GOLD and TEXAS TANGO.
Seth Johnston (Atticus Finch) has worked every aspect of theater at a
variety of Metroplex venues including Water Tower, Circle, Hip Pocket, Fort
Worth Theatre, Butterfly Connection, The Rose Marine, Runway, Pantagelize,
Stage One, Theatre Arlington, and has produced “weird” shows under his own
moniker, the PANTHER CITY PLAYERS at Arts Fifth Avenue. Seth’s comic mystery
dinner group, The CrimeScene Company is in its eighth year of producing
original who-dun-whats across Texas. During the day and most nights, Seth
teaches theater at Eastern Hills High School.
Sean Massey (Tom Robinson) played Hoke in Artisan’s 2008 production of
DRIVING MISS DAISY. Sean has also performed in the DFW Metroplex at Theater
Arlington (ARSENIC AND OLD LACE), Jubilee Theater (PERMANENT COLLECTION),
and at Shakespeare Dallas (THEATER ON THE GO).
Other actors include: Sadie Leyva and Rezana Kaba as Scout; Zach Leyva and
Matthew Pandolfo as Jem; Brandon Shreve and Isaac Jarrell as Dill.
