FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE JUBILEE THEATRE LIGHTS UP THE NEW YEAR WITH “PRETTY FIRE”
AND PAIRS UP WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
Beginning January 27th the Jubilee Theatre’s stage will be filled with
music, laughter, haunting memories, and the pure joy of innocence as
the story of “Pretty Fire” comes to life.
Fort Worth, TX – January 12, 2012 – The Jubilee Theatre opens the New
Year with the national award winning play, Pretty Fire by Charlayne
Woodard. Newly appointed artistic director, Tre Garrett, brings this
coming of age story to the stage Friday, January 27 through February
26th, 2012. Opening night is scheduled for Friday, February 3rd and
Fort Worth City Council member and candidate for US House of
Representatives Kathleen Hicks is expected to introduce the play that
evening. Tickets for opening night are on sale now at
www.jubileetheatre.org or 817-338-4411.
Composed of autobiographical vignettes, the play offers audiences an
intimate view of a young lady’s journey to find her voice. As the story
explores themes of family, faith, love and self-awareness, every
audience member is sure to recognize common threads from among their
own memories and challenges of growing up.
“Pretty Fire is a beautiful coming of age story filled with laughter,
love and music,” says Garrett. “After each performance, my hope is
that the audience will leave feeling rejuvenated by its honesty. I
want young girls to feel inspired by their own potential.”
Jubilee Theatre is encouraging mothers and daughters, aunts and nieces,
mentors and their mentees to pair up and experience the show together.
Working with civic and social women’s groups throughout the area, the
theatre is hoping to create opportunities for young women to see the
show, network and socialize with prominent women from the Fort Worth
metroplex and beyond.
“This show is all about giving confidence and a voice to all the young
ladies of our community,” continues Garrett.”
The Jubilee will also grant unique opportunities for audience members
to “talk back” with the director and cast after the show.
Additionally, the Jubilee is expanding its outreach by presenting a
special show during the run that is interpreted for the hearing
impaired.
“Pretty Fire is full of heart for the whole family and dedicated to the
young ladies of our community,” states Garrett.
Tickets can be purchased at the theatre box office located at 506 Main
Street in downtown Fort Worth, Tuesday – Friday from 12pm – 6pm or
