NEW STUDY AT THE UNT SPEECH AND HEARING CENTER
Speech recognition and subjective benefit with a CROS/BiCROS hearing
aid
Erin C. Schafer, Ph.D. and Lana Ward, Au.D. are conducting a new study
to examine speech recognition and subjective benefit with a specialized
CROS or Bi-CROS hearing aid. As a participant of the study, you will be
fit with a wireless instrument for people with one-sided hearing. Even
if you have a hearing loss in your better hearing ear, there may be a
solution for you!
Who may participate?
We are looking for participants who qualify for one of the following
groups:
Group 1 – CROS:
• Adults or adolescents (> 14 years)
• Severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss in one ear with normal
hearing in the opposite ear
Group 2 – Bi-CROS:
• Adults or adolescents (> 14 years)
• Severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing loss in one ear with a
lesser degree of hearing loss in the opposite ear
Please call or e-mail if you have any questions about the study or if
you would like to participate. To see if you qualify, you may be
required to complete a complimentary hearing evaluation. People who
qualify for the study will be receive some monetary compensation and
will get to use the hearing instruments during a trial period.
