With a heavy heart, I’ve decided to resign from my position as
Outreach/Educator of the SafePlace – Deaf Services program to return
back to my beloved UT for a certification program in Health IT. I want
to take the time to say thank you so much for your support and it was a
pleasure meeting all of you!! With that being said, Deaf Services
Program is now seeking a fabulous person to take over my position and
continue spreading awareness about Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault!

SafePlace: Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Survival Center is
recruiting for the following position:

Deaf Services Outreach/Educator — $34,500yr (full time)

The Deaf Services Outreach/Educator outreaches to spread awareness in
the Deaf community about SafePlace and domestic and sexual violence.
Provides training/education on topics to the Deaf community related to
healthy relationships and domestic/sexual violence and training on Deaf
culture/sensitivity to hearing professionals. Lead in managing social
media activities to engage the Deaf community. Key role in working
closely with an instructional technology consultant and other staff in
building an online training for ASL interpreters. Builds
relationships/partnerships with local Deaf community and plans public
awareness events related to domestic/sexual violence. Staffs booths at
local Deaf events to promote information about SafePlace. Recruits and
supervises volunteers. This position is expected to work
collaboratively with the Deaf Services team and other hearing staff to
achieve program goals.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in adult education, social work,
psychology, sociology, women’s studies or related field; requires
fluency in American Sign Language and life experience or extensive
knowledge of Deaf culture; experience in planning and conducting
trainings/presentations; knowledge of the dynamics of domestic and
sexual violence; excellent organizational skills and ability to manage
multiple priorities effectively; strong writing skills a must; some
weekend and evening work required; reliable transportation necessary.
Position is grant funded at least one year.
