CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) –

As with any major disaster, the American Red Cross has been on the scene of Friday morning's house explosion trying to assess the damage and help out victims.

Soon after the explosion, they set up shop at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center on McArdle Road. Some of the immediate help they have been providing include food and water. They are also trying to set up those who are displaced with hotel rooms for the time being.

Those at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center are asking people who need help to head over and take advantage of some of the services.

"We are welcoming people in the area to come here that live here to take advantage of the AC," said Mary E. Wambach of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center. "Sit down, relax. We are getting some food, cold water, and restroom. We want to be good neighbors."

As of right now, the Red Cross has assisted one family with a place to stay. So far, they have made contact with 18 families. They are still in the process of acquiring a total count of people affected.

The Red Cross will be at the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Center from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday to meet once again with those affected.
