Book Release for FLYING TO THE FIRE, Book #2 in Elyse Salpeter’s Deaf Thriller Series
Hi there,
We seldom see Deaf Characters in mainstream literature and I’m aiming to change that. I have written a YA Deaf thriller series, called FLYING TO THE LIGHT and FLYING TO THE FIRE. Both books have been written up by Sharon Pajka, a professor at Gallaudet and have hit the top spots on many Goodreads Listopia lists for books with deaf characters. (I want to thank you for writing up the first book for me back in early 2012)
I have spoken at various deaf schools and was wondering if there was any interest for an author interview or write-up so we can showcase the novel to your readers again? I’ve found getting kids to read the most challenging things in the community and seeing someone that “looks like them” is a great way to reach them.
The novels are about a young deaf boy who knows about the afterlife and now people are after him for the answer. In book #1 he is just six years old and now in Book #2 he is thirteen, which I think is great because he is the real driver of the story. The family, primarily uses sign language to communicate with him and they never consider his deafness a disability – it is simply a part of who he is.
Would you be interested in promoting the novels to your readers? Here’s the Amazon link to both books.
Seventeen year old Michael Anderson and his deaf kid brother, Danny, find themselves in mortal danger after their parents are kidnapped. Michael discovers Danny has a special gift—he knows what happens after a person dies—and now others want to know too. The brothers must outwit and outrun Samuel Herrington, a lethal biophysicist, the FBI, and even fellow Americans in a harrowing cross-country chase, because whoever gets to Danny first will have the power to rule the world.

FLYING TO THE FIRE
An evil black mass has burst through Danny Anderson’s nightmares to attack him in broad daylight. If it weren’t for his birds, he would have died. Danny soon realizes that this monster is not coming for him, but for his little sister, Katie…because while he looks up to a place of light and peace, Katie looks down into the realms of darkness and cruelty. Time is running out. The monster grows stronger with each attempt to steal Katie away to these dark dimensions, forcing Danny into the fight of his life to save his sister–before she is lost to him forever.
