THE FREEDOM FACTOR
What would America be like today without our Constitution? It’s a document we take for granted, but Artisan Center Theater’s THE FREEDOM FACTOR – A WORLD PREMIERE will give us a very dramatic answer to that question. The production is based on a Gerald N. Lund book much-admired by Artisan Co-Founders Dee Ann and Richard Blair. This exciting play has been adapted for the stage by Jen Geigle Johnson in collaboration with Amy and Dave Sorter, Joe Sturgeon, Dorothy Sanders and Rick and DeeAnn Blair.
The play introduces us to Bryce Sherwood, a senatorial aide in Washington, D.C. who is recruited to be a key player in an attempt to pass an amendment that would eliminate the checks and balances built into the Constitution. But, when Founding Father Nathaniel Gorham, one of the original signers of the Constitution, appears to him, his refusal to understand the dangers of his position gets him transported by Gorham into a world where the Constitution was never ratified. Thrown into a strange land of violence, oppression and fear, Bryce begins to appreciate the true value of the great document and the price that must be paid to keep the freedoms it has given us. But, will he be able to pay that price?
“THE FREEDOM FACTOR is a gripping story of courage and love,” said Mrs. Blair, Executive Producer and Director of the Premiere. “We are passionate about telling this timely story and I am honored and grateful that Mr. Lund allowed us to bring it to life. This adaptation makes every effort to carry Mr. Lund’s compelling story to the stage. We hope that it will help each of us to appreciate the gift our forefathers gave us – the Constitution of the United States of America,”
