Position Announcement for Accessibility Specialist in the Disability Rights Section

The Disability Rights Section is seeking a qualified applicant for a new position as an accessibility specialist in the ADA Design Unit. The position announcement, with instructions on how to apply, is on USAjobs.gov and is open until Thursday, April 23, 2015. This is a great position for someone who wants to do ADA work in enforcement, regulation development, and technical assistance.

The Disability Rights Section (Section or DRS) enforces civil rights laws designed to protect persons with disabilities from illegal discrimination in employment, public services, and public accommodations and services operated by private entities. The Section conducts investigations, brings lawsuits, and monitors compliance with court orders and settlements. The Section also promulgates regulations to interpret and implement the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and develops sub-regulatory guidance explaining the requirements of the ADA. The Section provides technical assistance to the general public, to State and local governments, to private entities covered by Title III, and to persons with disabilities, and operates the ADA Information Line, the ADA Mediation Program, and the ADA website, http://www.ADA.gov.
