2017 Deaf Seniors of America
“Unleash the Power of Age!’ This is exactly what Deaf senior citizens from all over the country will be doing when they converge upon Houston, Texas, April 2-9, 2017. Deaf Seniors of America (DSA) will be holding their biennial conference in the Space City. This biennial conference provides Deaf seniors an opportunity to commune, attend educational sessions, and participate in activities all aimed at improving quality of life for senior citizens who are Deaf.
With more than 2.2 million residents, the city of Houston attracts visitors and transplants with a wonderful mix of world-class arts, booming business, pro sports and award-winning cuisine. Houston, the fourth largest city in U.S., is home to the Texas Medical Center and NASA’s Johnson Space Center. The conference will be held at the beautifully appointed Westin Galleria Houston hotel located in the heart of The Galleria mall. Spanning 2.4 million square feet of space, housing 400 fine stores and restaurants, two high-rise hotels, and three office towers, The Galleria is Houston’s most popular retail and tourist destination, meeting every style and taste.
Travelling to Houston is easy and convenient. There are two major commercial airports for your arrival and departure; George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), located in the northern area of town and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), serving the southern part of Houston.
Houston’s climate is mostly hot and humid but in the springtime, which is when this conference is slated, it will likely be a nice, mild 75 to 80 degrees. The perfect weather to enjoy an evening of Houston Astros baseball game or experience one of the planned field trips.
The First DSA Conference, held in 1992 was in Austin, Texas, pioneered by Ralph White, and twenty-five years later, we’re celebrating with a Silver Jubilee! We hope you will join us in “REMEMBERING AUSTIN…OUR HERITAGE CONTINUES…” with a multitude of educational sessions surrounding issues affecting seniors and providing you with an opportunity to meet with a multitude of vendors.
Opportunities for sponsorship, presenters, and vendors will be forthcoming.
