Abilene ISD is in need of a long-term ASL substitute teacher at Cooper High School, in Abilene, TX…. 2 1/2 hours west of Fort Worth. This job has an aide to answer the phone during classes — good for someone who is deaf — have about 130 hearing students with 3 deaf students who are enrolled in ASL. This would be perfect for someone who is looking to begin the certification process by taking the ASL certification test in April and then be ready to take a job in the fall. Fabulous kids eager to learn ASL, and hoping to keep the program growing enough to return in 2 years with more ASL teachers. This job would be for 12 weeks starting around mid-February. Beginning in two weeks, ASL teacher will have twice weekly Dr’s appointments (maternity leave) and would like to be able to start using someone that is interested in the position on those days to transition to full-time.
