TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF ATHLETES SELECTED FOR NATIONAL TEAM
Austin, Texas – March 10, 2016 ParaSport News just announced that the USA Deaf Sports Federation recently selected two Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) athletes to join the United States Women’s National U-18 Deaf Volleyball Team.
TSD juniors, Kameraon Kinast and Elina Rubinshteyn, both from Austin, Texas, were named to the national roster.
For Kinast, this is the second time to be selected for the national women’s team. In addition this year, Kinast was named to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ (TAPPS) First Team All-District, and All-State Honorable Mention. Kinast was also named All-American by the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association (NDIAA), and DeafDigest Sports.
A 5’7” Setter for the TSD Rangers, Kinast led the team with 621 assists, and 126 aces this season.
Rubinshteyn, a left-hander at 5’9” with a 21-inch vertical jump, plays Right Side for the Rangers. She was also named to Second Team All-District, and received Spike Out All-Star honors.
A first-time pick for the U-18, Rubinshteyn led the Rangers this season with 224 kills.
Coached by three-time Deaflympian, Dyan Kovacs, this summer Kinast and Rubenshteyn join the national team to compete in the 2016 Phoenix (Arizona) Volleyball Festival.
