Position: Deaf Education – Itinerant/Parent Advisor
Description: Mesquite Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Itinerant Teacher/Parent Advisor for the Hearing Impaired in the Special Education Department. The teacher will report to the special education coordinator and will be responsible for instructional program associated with the hearing impaired as well as conferencing with parents. The appointee will work closely with students, classroom teachers, parents, special education personnel and other campus staff members.
Qualifications: The Teacher will have a valid Texas teaching certificate in the designated field.
Preference will be given to applicants who:
? have successful teaching and/or student teaching experience in the area of deaf education
? possess an in-depth understanding of effective instructional strategies
? have an understanding of and compassion for children with various learning styles
? demonstrate a high level of proficiency in sign language
? possess an understanding of computer functions and values technology as it relates to instruction
? appreciate, understand, and value multicultural and ethnic diversity
? demonstrate effective communication, public relation, and interpersonal skills (adults and students)
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.
Salary: Pay Range: Teacher Salary; 187 day contract (prorated)
Employment begins: January 17, 2017 or as soon as possible
