Deaf-Blind Training/Workshop Presented by Hayley Broadway & Sarah Morrison
Protactile, the DeafBlind way will begin with an introduction to its philosophy, culture, and language. This workshop will emphasize approaches that are culturally appropriate within the DeafBlind community. This workshop will dismantle old views towards the concept of tactile communications and provide a more positive insight on the concept of presence/connection.
This workshop will enable participants to become more familiar with how ProTactile works and its etiquettes, there will be hands-on sessions, mini-group discussions, and a response system (non-technical approach) to keep participants engaged.
To further ensure that this training will enhance participants learning acquisition, it will introduce the basic components of ProTactile (PT), and how to weave those components into their field/profession which will provide effective access for those who are DeafBlind. This training will not only enhance your professional skills within the DeafBlind community through ProTactile, but to appreciate and acknowledge the impact it has on the DeafBlind members of the community.
