FREE Training – Pharmacy Tech Apprenticeship Grant @ Richland College in Dallas
Good Morning,
Happy New Year to you and your team. My name is Brenita Jackson and I am recruiting potential candidates looking to jump start their career and have a desire to help people. We have an amazing opportunity through the American Apprenticeship Initiative that focuses on teaching, training and hiring candidates to fill a high demand job here in Dallas with a focus on underserved and underrepresented minority populations. If you have people graduating this spring looking for work or someone wanting to change careers, this would be great for them.
The first part of the program has in classroom training all paid for by the grant so tuition, books and scrubs are free to the student. The classes last 16 weeks on the campus of Richland College then there is an unpaid externship in an actual pharmacy for another 4 weeks so that students are fully prepared. After this 20 week commitment, students will then be eligible for hire to work in a CVS Pharmacy through the apprenticeship and will get paid while they complete training hours. The grant covers the cost of trainee license as well as the cost associated with sitting for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board along with any required refresher courses to help students pass this exam. Here at Richland College we have tutors to help students with Pharmacy Math, ESOL classes as well as an adult learning center to help assist students succeed in this program and improve their resume if needed.
Although the program is free and we would love to accept everyone, the grant does require the following in order to be eligible to apply:
- At least 18 years of age or older (senior citizens, veterans and retirees are strongly encouraged to apply)
- Completed high school diploma/GED (unofficial transcripts required with application)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (not green card holder or Visa status, must have proof of citizenship)
- Must be able to pass background checks and drug screenings due to state regulations of working in a Pharmacy
I have attached a flier with more information about the program along with an application for anyone you know who might be interested. They can fill the application out and scan it in to me by email.
If you have any classes or groups of interested candidates that you would like me to come speak to, I can arrange to do that. Please respond to this email with some dates, times and locations so that I can arrange to be there.
We will host an orientation here on Richland Campus March 29, 2019 at 11 am or 2 pm for all applicants to get started in our summer classes. They do need to RSVP for this event with me directly at 972-284-5583 or by email [email protected] to guarantee space and select the time that works best for their schedule either 11 or 2. Thank you so much for your help getting this information out.
All the best,
Brenita Jackson
