PRESS RELEASE
Big Tex, Witnesses, Welcome Fair-Goers
DALLAS, TX – October 15, 2019 – Over two million people are expected to attend the 2019 State Fair of Texas. But from high above Fair Park, Big Tex, the world’s tallest cowboy, will witness more than just crowds of people looking to taste this year’s newest fried foods. Throughout the 24-day event, thousands of Jehovah’s Witness volunteers will be on hand at various mobile literature carts to greet visitors as they enter the fairgrounds.
This marks the third year in a row that Jehovah’s Witnesses have had a presence at this famous event. Organizers of this year’s initiative say that well over 5,000 volunteers will dedicate up to 10,000 hours to participate because they believe the message is timely and a valuable contribution to the community. “So much
of the messaging that we receive today is negative, divisive, and intolerant,” says campaign volunteer Kevin Jenkins. “We are here to share something different.” Another volunteer, Jeremy Dellinger added, “We want to talk with people about the struggles they face in their lives. We face the same struggles, but we’ve found Bible principles that help us to cope and endure.”
All Bible-based publications are provided free of charge. Additional information regarding Jehovah’s Witnesses and their activities can be found at their official website, jw.org.
