Spring 2021: Sexuality Interpreting Workshops

Sex Education in ASL is excited to announce our online workshops schedule for this Spring 2021!

Take a peek into one of our new & exciting workshops!

Gynecologic Care Interpreting Workshop (.3 CEUs)

This 3 hour workshop is designed to help experienced interpreters with advanced skills expand their knowledge and language in the field of gynecology. This workshop aims to improve understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the reproductive system, gynecologic care, diagnoses, pathology and treatment in order to facilitate communication successfully. This workshop will also delve into professional ethics with medical interpretation and boundaries. Sexual healthcare appointments, including the patient’s first gynecological appointment, are some of the most challenging for interpreters as many situations may be vulnerable and sensitive to both interpreters and consumers. This workshop will illustrate ways to provide trauma-informed and gender affirming care for all sexual identities.

All workshops will be live and interactive with various activities. In 2020, Zoom fatigue is real, but rest assured with Bethany’s dynamic presentation style and the use of hands-on activities, breakout room discussions, bio breaks, and polls to participate, workshops will be engaging and educational.
