Deaf Self-Advocacy Training (DSAT) is a specialized curriculum devoted to teaching individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to self-advocate for effective interpreting services. In addition, the content of the curriculum includes concepts of self-esteem and self-determination, the law, ethics of working with interpreters, video relay interpreting, preparing for self-advocacy, and how to effectively tap resources. The DSAT curriculum was developed by individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or DeafBlind and designed as a peer-led training. DSAT is a curriculum designed to be taught by deaf, hard of hearing and DeafBlind trainers to other deaf, hard of hearing and DeafBlind consumers.

Want to become a Deaf Self-Advocacy (DSAT) Trainer? (Participants in this session will need to be already familiar with and have completed training with the DSAT Consumer Curriculum.)
These trainings will be conducted by Amanda Tuite, DSAT Master Trainer, and is designed for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing wanting to become DSAT consumer trainers. If you have already completed DSAT, sign up for the Train the Trainer session! If you have not yet completed DSAT, sign up for both sessions!
