Community Emergency Response Team
Free Disaster Preparedness Training
w/ ASL Interpretation
What do CERT teams do in an emergency?
Under the direction of local emergency responders, CERT teams help provide critical support by giving immediate assistance to victims, providing damage assessment information, and organizing other volunteers at a disaster site.
Volunteers trained in CERT also offer a potential workforce for performing duties such as shelter support, crowd control and evacuation.
The role of a CERT volunteer is to help themselves and others until trained emergency personnel arrive.
What is taught in CERT training?
The training covers: general disaster preparedness, fire safety and suppression, basic medical operations, light search and rescue, CERT team organization, disaster psychology and terrorism awareness. The training culminates with a mock search and rescue drill, where participants apply the skills and concepts learned in the training in an effort to “do the most good for the most amount of people”.
Free participant manual & backpack with basic supplies provided.
