Texas Hands & Voices Family Picnic

Houston Area TX Hands & Voices invites all families with children who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Houston, TX, July 18, 2009: The Houston Area TX Hands & Voices, along with the Educational Resource Center on Deafness, is hosting its first family picnic at Zube Park on July 18th, 2009 from 10am to 1pm. Hands & Voices offers non-biased support for families of children who are deaf and hard of hearing. We welcome all families who have deaf or hard of hearing children to come see what we are all about and meet new friends! Join us for hotdogs, chips, drinks and door prizes. We ask that you bring a side dish or dessert and chairs. Children can enjoy games and face painting, while parents have the opportunity to visit with Hands & Voices board members and a representative from Sorenson Communications. The Houston Area Live Steamer Association trains will also be running that day. Please RSVP to Kellie Berger by July 10th with how many are coming and if you will need a translator. What is Hands & Voices?

Texas Hands & Voices is a chapter of the nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families of children who are deaf/hard of hearing with information and resources so they can make the best choices for their child. We are non-biased about communication modes or methodologies, and believe that given good information and support, families can make the choice that is right for their child. Our diverse membership includes those who are deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing impaired and their families who communicate orally, with signs, cue, and/or combined methods. We exist to help our children reach their highest potential. We also open our organization to professionals who are interested in a family, child-focused approach to service delivery. Our motto is “What works for your child is what makes the choice right.”
