Jessie Faye Martinez, 85, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 11, 2011.

Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Paramount
Baptist Deaf Church with Darrell Bonjour officiating. Burial will be in
Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St.

Jessie was born June 18, 1925, in Estelline. As a child, she attended the
state school for the deaf in Austin. She later moved to Denver, where she
resided for 30 years, prior to moving to Amarillo. She was a member of
Paramount Baptist Deaf Church.

Jessie was passionate about volunteering her time with the local deaf
community. She had a compassionate and caring heart, and enjoyed being
around people. She also enjoyed playing cards and quilting. Many would
describe her as having a great, yet interesting sense of humor. She will be
deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Burnside.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Martinez; a sister, Beverly Vanpelt
of Wyoming; two granddaughters, Kim Sims and husband Stoney of Bushland and
Jessica Moore and husband Ethan of Canyon; five great-grandchildren,
Grayson, Ally, Libby, Kennedy and Hank; and a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Tebo
of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be to Paramount Baptist Deaf Church, 3817
Holiday Drive, Amarillo, TX 79109-4219.
