POSITION TITLE: SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER

Part-time position (Hours vary between 7:30am-10:00pm)

CAMPUS/DEPARTMENT: Central Campus – Disability Support Services

Location: Killeen, Texas

SALARY: $25.00 per hour

EDUCATION/

EXPERIENCE: Level I Interpreter Certification (TSID, RID, OR BEI) or meet the ADA qualification standard and the following is required:

* One year full time wage earning sign language interpreting work experience or completion of an Interpreter Preparation Program Internship.

The following is preferred:

* One year full-time wage earning experience sign language interpreting in a post-secondary educational environment.

*An unofficial copy of college transcripts is required with the application. The transcript must show the awarded degree and the date conferred (if completed).

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires proficiency in communication and interpretation between the hearing-impaired and the non-hearing impaired.

Understanding of a person with deafness preferred form of communication. Show interest, enthusiasm, empathy, and a desire to help others. Must have good interpersonal skills and must be able to communicate effectively both written and orally. Job location may vary from Main Campus, Fort Hood Campus, and other locations as needed in CTC service area. *Successful background check is required for all CTC employment.
