The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL), Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD) in Danville (Boyle County) has an opening for a Program Coordinator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interpret policies/procedures for the implementation of the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) program. Oversee/Coordinate interviews for all teachers, staff, students and contract w/ other state agencies in need of SLPI assessments to determine American Sign Language (ASL) rate.

Conduct interviews along w/ SLPI team to determine the rate for the ASL levels according to the SLPI Rating Scale. Review/maintain SLPI records keeping system to ensure SLPI compliance w/ policy standards. Access scores, coordinate & attend meetings w/ SLPI Committee to provide recommendations regarding their strength & areas of improvements.

Oversee the ASL instruction for staff and students at the Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD). Coordinate and recommend ASL classes for students and staff based on needs recorded during the one-to-one interview to determine the ratings.

Develop procedures, implement policies relative to the Communication policy adopted by the Kentucky Board of Education (KBE). Communicate all SLPI and ASL program and policy changes to the KSD Communication Committee. Meet with the Communication Committee and administrators to update the interviewees scores and any change need to program procedures.

Respond to inquiries from Universities, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and other state agencies requiring support in ASL.

Coordinate and conduct orientation, mobility and braille services for Deaf/Blind Students. Coordinate staff development for SLPI raters to ensure compliance with policy standards.

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree and must have three years of professional experience in management or administration.pplicants must be a graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree and must have three years of professional experience in management or administration.

SUBSTITUTION CLAUSE:

A master’s degree will substitute for one year of the required experience. Administrative or business experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Pay Grade: 13
Gross Monthly Salary Range: $2,670.20 – $3,554.70

Please be advised per 101 KAR 2:034 and KDE’s internal policy concerning the salary of newly appointed state employees, the salary that KDE will offer to the selected candidate is $2,670.20. This salary range for this classification for newly appointed state employees is non-negotiable.
