Course Covers:
Understanding Hearing Loss and Communication Barriers
Understanding the Role of Emergency Responders
Legal Responsibilities, Communication and Warning Issues, and Case Studies
Partnering for a Safer Community

The information presented in this training will benefit anyone involved with emergency planning, response and recovery efforts. The primary focus of the curriculum is direct interaction between first responders and people who are deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened or deaf-blind.

NOTE: ASL interpreters, real-time captioning and assistive listening system will be provided. All other accommodations will be provided upon request.

Registrations: We will select equal representation of Consumers and Emergency Responders from applications in the order we receive them until the 40 participants have been selected. Those not selected will be placed on a waiting list.
