NAD Position Announcement

Silver Spring, MD — The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is seeking candidates for the position of Staff Accountant.

The person who fills the Staff Accountant position will be responsible for maintenance of accounting records. Responsibilities include verifying and posting details of business transactions, as well as preparing vouchers, invoices, checks, statements, income and expense reports, and related documents. Additional responsibilities include financial data entry, daily bank deposit processing, monthly bank reconciliations, financial records upkeep, and delinquent account resolution. Supporting duties include monthly, quarterly and annual report preparation, annual audit processes, budgetary planning, and related tasks.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field, with at least two years’ professional work experience, with knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and accounting software systems including spreadsheet applications. Detail oriented with attention to accuracy and completeness. Strong organizational skills and ability to work within established timelines. Fluency in American Sign Language preferred. Note: This position is funded by a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
