Employment Specialist

Goodrich Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is currently seeking to fill the position of Employment Specialist. This is a full time permanent position reporting to the Director of Employment Services.

The Employment Specialist is responsible for a caseload of approximately 10 to 20 clients. The clients can be supported employment and job placement. The Employment Specialist is expected to assist 12 to 24 clients a year in obtaining employment.

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

• Presents a professional appearance and demeanor to our clients and the business community.
• Develops employment opportunities for clients by developing relationships with employers.
• Is a team player. Sharing job leads, tips and covering coworker’s caseloads when necessary.
• Secures, monitors and supervises job coaches after placements are completed.
• Maintains case notes in an efficient and prompt manner.
• Completes service logs, employment verification and other necessary paperwork.
• Reports billable hours every two weeks to the Manager of Employment Services on a timely basis.
• Maintains a relationship with the client and employer throughout the first six months to one year of employment. Intervenes in the employment setting if the client is having problems on the job that could affect their employment status.
• Attends regular departmental staff meetings and monthly agency staff meetings.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the Director of Employment Services and the Executive Director.

Qualifications: Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field, but is not required. Must be able to communicate in American Sign Language; must be an effective communicator with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures and able to motivate adult job seekers from all backgrounds. Experience with the business community and public speaking are helpful; must be a self starter able to work independently with little or no supervision; must be able to handle several tasks at a time; and must be computer literate particularly in use of internet. Candidates must have experience in workforce development and a proven track record in job development and job placement.

Salary: Competitive salary with mileage reimbursement and benefits package.
