ABOUT THE MUSICAL:

GODSPELL is based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, and featuring a sparkling, score by Stephen Schwartz, GODSPELL boasts a string of well-loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day by Day.” As the cast performs “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “All For The Best,” “All Good Gifts,” “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side,” the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life.

Under the gifted direction of Taffy Geisel, the exceptionally talented cast presents a compelling and entertaining story.

THE DIRECTOR:

Taffy Geisel (Director) started her theater career in kindergarten when she was cast as the mean ugly step-flower in CINDERELLA IN FLOWERLAND. From there she grew up to play Miss Hannigan in ANNIE at CATS, the role which earned her the Star Telegram’ Best Actress in Tarrant County in 2003. Artisan audiences remember her as the church lady Miss Myrtle in SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN and the SANDERS FAMILY CHRISTMAS, and as the director of Artisan’s 2004 production of ANNIE.

Taffy has had a long and successful association with Creative Arts Theater and School (CATS) in Arlington, where she has taught and directed. She is a playwright of growing reknown. She wrote THE CHRISTMAS CAROL MIRACLE, seen at Artisan last Christmas, as well as versions of THE LION, WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE and A WRINKLE IN TIME. In 2006 she directed the incredibly beloved and successful SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN and will also direct upcoming THE MIRACLE WORKER at Artisan.

GODSPELL is one of her favorite musicals of all time – its joyful telling of Jesus’ story always fills her up with exultation.
