ASL WORLD / INTERPRETER WORLD
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE WORKSHOP

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2007
Time: 9:00 to 12:00

Mindy Moore and Theron Parker present

1. The Meeting of Great Minds: Deaf History

9:00 am – 10:45 am

“Mindy will provide a lively, fascinating glimpse into the rich history of the Deaf community… Participants will also learn the impact of the educators’ convention in Milan, Italy, that forever scarred Deaf education, and learn how American Sign Language finally came to be recognized as a true, stand-alone language with William Stokoe’s untiring work.”

RID and BEI CEUs approval is pending.

2. Deaf Humor

11:00 am – 12:00 pm

“Humor is such a vibrant part of Deaf culture, yet rarely is it explored in depth. In this workshop, participants will laugh as they learn the types of humor commonly found in the Deaf community… Theron will also incorporate research done by well-known individuals and authors, such as M.J. Bienvenu and Susan Rutherford, that examine the role of humor within the Deaf community.”
