NAD Position Announcement- Director of Development

Silver Spring, MD –The National Association of the Deaf (NAD), headquartered in Silver Spring, Maryland, seeks a dynamic and a highly motivated Director of Development.

Key responsibilities for the Director of Development include, but are not limited to: preparation and implementation of short-term and long-term fundraising plans for the NAD; coordination of annual and major gift campaigns and special events; creation of marketing materials; grant prospect research and grant proposal writing; segmentation of individual and organizational donor prospects; oversight of donor and prospective donor database; outreach to and communication with donors and interested persons alike.

The success of the Director of Development will be evaluated on the basis of his or her ability to: effectively administer the start-up operations of the development office; meet annual NAD fundraising goals; provide leadership support, and contribute to the success of NAD strategic development and fundraising efforts

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, marketing, public relations, communications, or related field, with at least four years’ relevant and diverse fundraising experience. Knowledge of standard fundraising practices, gift tax laws, and planned giving is desirable.

The ideal candidate will be a self starter and team player, with the ability to work collaboratively, effectively and flexibly with multiple constituents. Excellent organizational skills are required, with the ability to work independently under pressure and adhere to tight timelines. Exceptional written communication, research, and presentation skills are also required for this position. Fluency in ASL with knowledge of deaf culture, language, and heritage is highly desirable.

This is a full time position with a standard benefits package; salary is commensurate with experience.
