Scarborough Faire – Interpreter Volunteer Wanted

Scarborough Faire and MIS is looking for a few good interpreters who would like to have fun while interpreting!

Would you like to interpret at Scarborough Faire? (Waxahachie, Texas)

April 14 & 15 (Saturday and Sunday) is being advertised as “Special Performances for the Hearing Impaired.” This will be an opportunity for everyone to come out and have fun with the actors at Scarborough Faire. You do not have to be certified. If you are an interpreting student, a native signer, or someone very confident in their own interpreting skills and would like to have the opportunity to interpret for the public (which, of course, will include those who are deaf.), then please call 214/969-5585 or e-mail us at [email protected] .

Mind you, this will not be a totally volunteer event. The Faire will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. For coming to interpret, each interpreter will receive a T-shirt (which we will all wear the day we are working), a coupon for a turkey leg and a drink coupon, and a ticket to return just for fun!

Overall, each act is 30 minutes long and they perform four times a day. The rest of the time, you can roam through the park and assist the patrons in the arts and crafts booths or watch other interpreters work. Some of the acts will take two interpreters, the rest, only one.

If you think you would be interested, please contact MIS to let us know by tomorrow, April 6, 2007.

When you call or e-mail we need to know,

Your certification level or if you are a student or otherwise; Your T-shirt size; If you would like to work Saturday, Sunday or both.
