** Developing medical vocabulary
** Using descriptive classifiers in the medical setting
** Reviewing video clips of Deaf people describing various symptoms and treatments to develop your sign vocabulary and voicing skills
** Providing resources and follow up activities for interpreters to develop medical interpreting skills in the future

Presenter’s Bios:

Kent Kennedy: Kent Kennedy has worked tirelessly to promote, and preserve the rights and quality of life of deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States of America.

With an impressive service record spanning from his leadership and presidency of the Texas Association of the Deaf to his presidency of the National Association of the Deaf, Kent Kennedy has made many contributions to the community at the local, state and national levels.

During his leadership on the NAD Board, Kent implemented significant changes that helped the NAD to become a more inclusive organization, putting into effect policy changes that streamlined organizational operations. Kent Kennedy has successfully worked to bring and infusion of youth into the NAD as well as valuing and using the wisdom and experience of NAD veterans. He has also been successful in forging and maintaining NAD relationships with State Association affiliates and local organizations.

Buddy Bauer: Buddy Bauer has over 25 years in the field of interpretation. First certified in 1978 (BSC from TSID), he has since taken 11 different evaluations both state and national, and currently holds TCDHH Level 5 and NAD Level 5.
