Lamar University sponsors the 44th Biennial TAD Conference

Lamar University is a regional state-supported university in southeast Texas. It has the fourth largest teacher-training program in deaf studies/deaf education. There are also five full time professors in Deaf Studies/Deaf Education at Lamar, five individuals in Bilingual Education, Education, Computer Science and Educational Technology. In addition, Lamar has the only teacher-training program in the US that is financed by the Dept of Education in Washington, D.C. (DOE) to train Hispanic deaf persons to teach Hispanic deaf individuals.

The Lamar University department of Deaf Studies/Deaf Education will co-sponsor the TAD conference this summer by providing support for guest speakers such as Dr. Bobbie Beth Scoggins and Dr. Glen Anderson. Lamar faculty and undergraduate students in ASL studies and graduate students in Deaf Studies/Deaf Education will be required to attend TAD as part of their program at Lamar. Lamar seeks to establish strong ties between the university and TAD, a strong Deaf community organization in order to jointly address the challenges for Deaf and hearing people working together.
