United Camp information:

KODA and DEAF kids, of ages 7 to 15, will enjoy an amazing experience, exploring their identity as bicultural individuals through increased awareness of ASL, deaf and hearing culture. They will also be sharing stories of their experiences based on frustrations, success and strategies they have in their everyday lives.

Touch of Nature is a place where qualified staff, such as interpreters, KODA and DEAF, can provide fun activities that will help campers on how to understand their unique heritage of both worlds. Activities are as followed: swimming, campout, signing camp songs, campfires, hiking nature trail, hayride, horseback riding, canoeing, art, crafts and much more!

Danette has been working with DEAF kids for 16 years, through work setting. She has also volunteered at several camps throughout the metro area. She has 3 kids, who are hearing. Her only daughter attended KODA camp last summer.

Tammie has been working with DEAF kids through work and college settings for 13 years. She has also volunteered at KODA/DEAF events in the metro area. She has 2 girls, who are hearing. Her oldest daughter also attended KODA camp last summer.

We both will be leading a knowledgeable staff team to make a memorable event. The campers will have a great time and leave with a deep appreciation of their group identity as DEAF and KODA along with a better knowledge of one’s culture.

For any questions that you might have regarding to this event, or simply request an application, please contact one of camp directors listed below. We also have an application for qualified staff who’s wanting to volunteer for this event or contact us further for more staff information. Hope to see you all this summer!!

A $75.00 deposit is required when mailing the application in. The deadline for the application is June 30th. We also have financial aid applications to give to qualify campers to attend this memorable event. However, the financial fund is low and we suggest you use the example donation letter, with your modifications to pass out to family, friends, and co-workers.
