St. Ed’s, School For Deaf Receive False Bomb Threats

April 19, 2007

St. Edward’s University received bomb threats at 10 p.m. Wednesday and again at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

“The decision was made not to evacuate at this time, because at the time that the 8:30 phone call came in, university police had just finished a very thorough sweep of the entire campus, so they felt confident the campus was safe,” said university spokeswoman Mischelle Amador.

Campus police are working with the Austin Police Department and the FBI to investigate who has made the threats.

A bomb threat was phoned in to the Texas School for the Deaf Thursday morning, and it was also determined to be a hoax.
