Chris Sparks went home to be with the Lord on April 30th. Chris has impacted and touched many many people here and we want to celebrate her life.

The Kingdom Builders of New Life Deaf Fellowship have requested a special offering on Wednesday evening. All contributions will be made in memory of Chris Sparks towards the Capital Campaign Fund. Note:
I had gotten some conflicting information and I finally have the story straight…thanks to others who helped me get it right. I was waiting for the right story before sending this out to you all. I am sorry some of you were puzzled why we had not sent out any information earlier. My apologies.

If you know Chris closely, you will know that she has been looking forward to going home to be with the Lord. She has been through much suffering the last several years. I can tell you now what she is doing up there…cooking! LOL She loved to cook for others. Jesus says, “Let not your hearts be troubled…” While our hearts may be heavy, let us celebrate the life that Chris had during her time here with us. She lived her life to the fullest using her gifts and abilities sharing her love with others.

Here’s the story of what happened…

An old friend of Chris’s invited her to go on a Caribbean cruise. While the employees were loading Chris’s electric wheelchair, they dropped it and broke it. Chris had to use a manual wheelchair while on the ship. She developed heart pains and spent a lot of time in Sick Bay with pain and taking nitro tabs. The ship wanted to run some tests, but Chris said “No” she already had the tests and knew what was wrong (she has had heart problems for several years). When they docked in Galv, she was taken directly to the hospital. Chris told them she wanted no tests bec she already knew the situation. They finally convinced her to do a heart cath. After the heart cath, the doctors convinced her that even though surgery was very high risk it would give her 3 to 5 yrs more life. So Chris decided to do it. Her brother, Paul, drove to Galv and was with her. The surgery was scheduled for Tuesday, but it became too hard for her to breathe so the doctors moved the surgery back to M
onday morning. The surgery was 13 hrs long. Chris became weaker and weaker in surgery, and after about 12 hours, Chris passed away at approx 9:00PM on Monday, April 30, 2007.
