Qualified TSD staff may have the opportunity to earn additional compensation through supplemental employment activities such as summer school positions, athletic coaching, academic tutoring, extracurricular sponsors, and short-term outreach programs.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs complex administrative, technical, and specialized work coordinating and providing support for video conferencing events, video communication (VRS) systems, and technology projects and initiatives. Work involves proficiency in the use of equipment and applications related to video conferencing and video communication. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES

Videoconferencing

Schedules and coordinates videoconferences between TSD and other parties, including virtual field trips, TETN trainings, test connections, virtual job interviews, etc.
Provides videoconference demonstrations and explains distance learning/videoconferencing set-ups to TSD staff, students, and visitors
Provides scheduling and technical support for daily ASL Distance Learning Classes
Acts as a liaison between TSD ASL Distance Learning teachers and far-site facilitators, coordinators, and administrators, including: responding to complaints and concerns between site/teacher, site/site, and ESC 13, securing subs when needed, etc.
Schedules and provides technical support for weekly ASL Storyreading connections
Schedules and provides technical support for weekly Interpreter Mentoring connections
Plans and coordinates all aspects of videoconference production including lighting, audio, and video effects, and provides suggestions to distant sites on improving quality of connections
Prepares reports of Distance Learning Outreach effects including sites, numbers of participants, equipment used, cost, etc.
Maintains inventory records of videoconferencing equipment at TSD and at distance sites using TSD equipment
Helps maintain quality standards for connections by preparing/revising guidelines and making recommendations for appropriate usage
Instructs staff on the use of videoconferencing equipment, capabilities, and applications
Evaluates equipment specifications and requests and makes recommendations for the purchase of equipment
Video Communication (VRS) Systems
Acts as a liaison and main contact person between TSD and the VRS providers and supporters
Manages the VRS budget and special projects
Installs Video Communication technology (videophones, webcams, and cable modems)
Maintains a database of video communication devices and their locations
Manages the ‘helpdesk’ tickets for all VRS repairs and support needs
Provides basic VRS troubleshooting, computer, wiring, and other technical troubleshooting skills
Provides training for staff and students on Video Communication technology
Provides support and set-ups for Video Communication events and special projects
Orders equipment for Video Communication needs
Keeps records and budget for expenditures
Special Technology Projects and Initiatives
Provides support and leadership for technology initiatives such as the “1:1 Laptop Initiative”
Provides training and support for newly implemented software and initiatives
Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or management information systems
Two years of experience providing support for or administering videoconferencing or video communication systems (each year of experience in addition to two years may substitute for education on a year for year basis)
Prior professional experience working in a supervisory position
Prior experience using Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Sign Language: At hire, the applicant must have sign language skills equivalent to a Signed Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) level of ADVANCED. When applying, the applicant must submit documentation that the applicant believes substantiates that the applicant has achieved the proficiency level required at hire.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

Proficient signed communications skills
Master’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, or management information systems
4 years of experience providing support for or administering videoconferencing or video communication systems
Microsoft Office certification
Prior experience giving presentations and providing training to individuals, groups, and large audiences
Prior experience working with and providing training to both deaf and hearing individuals
Prior experience managing budgets and in maintaining financial records
Prior experience initiating, developing, and managing projects to completion
Prior experience working at a school or other educational environment
