Fort Worth Deaf & Hard of Hearing Community Meeting

The Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS), which was formerly the Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TCDHH), and now within the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), will facilitate a Community Meeting, Friday August 10, 2007 at the TCU Miller Speech and Hearing Clinic located at 3305 West Cantey (corner of Cantey and Stadium Drive) in Ft. Worth. Light refreshments will be provided at 6:30 pm and the meeting will begin at 7:00 pm.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide a forum for the deaf and hard of hearing people of the community to determine and prioritize their service needs, identify obstacles and recommend solutions. After the community meeting, DHHS will team with a local focus group, which will be formed, to work toward meeting the identified needs through developing a plan for community action.

Interpreter and CART services will be provided for the community meeting. Kent Kennedy, a state and national deaf community leader from Austin, will serve as moderator for the meeting. Present from DHHS will be David Myers, Director and Doug Dittfurth, Outreach Development Specialist.
