My husband and I were at this picnic for a few hours. There was such
a huge turnout at this picnic in spite of the rain and the temps
declining to the 50’s. The people at the picnic gathered together
closer and closer to stay warm and kept chatting their fingers off.
My husband could not believe what a great picnic it was and was awed
by how many people showed up for this wonderful event.
I was impressed with the fact that four Deaf associations joined
together to make this a great 2nd Annual Picnic. This shows a true
unity of Deaf/hard of hearing people.
Several DAD members have expressed their desire of having a similar
concept in Texas. But before we proceed, we need to know if you or
your Deaf/hard of hearing organizations, churches and/or schools may
want to participate by making this one Great Texas Picnic sometime in
the Fall 2008?
The picnic site will be open to any location in Texas. For
convenience sake and depending on who all wishes to participate we
hope to find a site that will be suitable for everyone who
partcipates.
If you and your group/organization/association/school wish to
participate please do email me your name, email address, name of your
group, and your VP number by September 23, 2007.
I will share all of this information with the selected DAD
representative. This representative will then be responsible for
contacting you regarding any future planning committee meetings.
