(CBS 11 News) FORT WORTH – New Life Deaf Fellowship, a Fort Worth church for the hearing impaired, has been robbed for the third time within the past month. Police officials and members of the church believe that the same person is responsible for the robberies.

Previously, the thief stole nearly $400 in change from a jar. The donated money was intended to be used for building a worship garden. During this third robbery, the thief walked away with two DVD players, a camera, a battery charger, $4 in cash and a drink from the church kitchen.

“I feel that he really took God’s money,” said church member Clara Mahan, “and now we have to start all over again.”

The church had already resorted to putting metal bars over the building’s windows in order to keep thieves out. But the thief had no idea that recently installed security cameras were recording his every move, providing new hope for finding the man responsible.

Those cameras watched as the thief rummaged through offices and rooms, spending nearly 30 minutes inside. “We also noticed that, when he came in, he seemed to be very familiar with all the rooms,” said Pastor Aric Randolph. “We suspected that it must be the same person that broke in before.”

“I’m hoping that we will be able to catch him,” said church member La Tonne Stout. “But more than that, I hope that he’ll understand what he’s done, that he really has not stolen from me or any other member. He’s really stolen from God.”
